NATURESGIFT NICHE CORNER

Beyond the Wilderness and the Ordinary

Our niche corner has so much to offer beyond the wilderness and beyond the ordinary. As it is nearly impossible to showcase every unique destination on our web, we have curated our special Niche Corner to briefly highlight additional unique destinations and experiences, that can be explored by guests travelling with us.

Avian Safaris

Are you a birder? If so, destinations such as the Lake region including both Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria as well as the renowned Kakamega Forest, are ideal for you, alongside many other forests and open plains across the country. These areas are especially rich in birdlife, offering excellent opportunities to observe a wide variety of species in diverse habitats, from lakeshores filled with flamingos and waterbirds to dense forest canopies alive with rare and colourful forest species.

Are you an Avid Hiker? Explore our summit ascent trail path that leads guests through some of Kenya’s most dramatic highland and mountain landscapes, including routes around Mount Kenya. Guests are introduced to changing ecosystems, scenic viewpoints, and immersive wilderness moments, with the ultimate highlight being the achievement of reaching elevated summits and enjoying panoramic views above the clouds. An experience that blends adventure, exclusivity, and personal accomplishment in the heart of Kenya’s wild landscapes

Wanting to unwind? If you are seeking an isolated beach with an ancient, timeless feel, far removed from the modern world and perfect for unwinding, then Lamu is the place for you. Lamu offers quiet, untouched shores where life slows down to the rhythm of the ocean, and simplicity takes over. And beyond the coast, there are also lesser-known lakeside escapes along Lake Victoria – the world’s second-largest freshwater lake and one of the sources of the Nile where calm shores and soft sunsets offer a different but equally peaceful kind of retreat.

Scenic helicopter rides: Aerial views are always amazing, transforming familiar scenery into something extraordinary. Whether flying over wildlife-rich plains, remote deserts, glaciers, or tropical islands, a helicopter ride adds a sense of adventure, exclusivity, and wonder to any journey.

Historian maybe? Then, are you into history? Kenya offers a rich journey through time, with many museums and archaeological sites worth exploring, including prehistoric locations such as Olorgesailie Prehistoric Site and Koobi Fora, both renowned for their significant records of early human life and evolution. These sites provide a fascinating glimpse into humanity’s origins, with ancient stone tools, fossils, and landscapes that tell the story of early man over thousands of years. They can easily be incorporated into an itinerary, adding a meaningful historical dimension to a wildlife or adventure journey across Kenya.

Are you a down-to-earth camping lover? Enjoy our camping safaris in a simple yet unforgettable way, ensuring you connect with nature. Imagine waking up to the sounds of wildlife, spending your days exploring the wild, and ending them around a glowing campfire under a sky full of stars. Explore the untamed beauty of Samburu with the local communities or on the shores of Lake Naivasha where every moment feels alive and close to the heart of nature. It’s not just a trip, it’s a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly feel part of the wild.

And we cannot forget CONSERVATION: Conservation in Kenya is deeply brought to life through the work of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. A visit to the nursery in Nairobi offers a close-up experience of orphaned elephant care, while the rehabilitation journey continues at release stations such as Ithumba, Umani Springs, and Voi Reintegration Unit, where the elephants are gradually reintroduced into the wild. Equally remarkable is the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a pioneering community-led sanctuary best experienced with a minimum stay of three nights in Samburu, offering an authentic and meaningful conservation experience. We do offer safaris focused on these areas.

Talk of remote destinations? You can explore unique experiences such as hiking in the caves of Mount Elgon, where elephants are sometimes seen entering to lick natural salt deposits from the rocks. You may also visit Lake Turkana, the world’s largest permanent desert lake and largest alkaline lake, surrounded by rugged volcanic scenery, remote shores, and important archaeological sites that have greatly contributed to the study of human origins.
Alternatively, the Arabuko Sokoke Forest offers a rare coastal forest experience, rich in birdlife and unique endemic species, making it a rewarding destination for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. And much more!!!

Considering a safari Extension from Kenya: You can easily connect from Nairobi, Kenya to Victoria Falls with Kenya Airways every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or to Seychelles with approximately 3–6 flights weekly, depending on the season. It is certainly worth considering these destinations before leaving the continent, as they offer unforgettable extensions to any African journey.
