Giants of the grassland’s safari focuses on the annual wildebeest migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Maasai Mara in Kenya. Focusing on this, the period of travel becomes specific, i.e.from July to October every year. The safari focuses on exploration of Lake Nakuru for an almost guaranteed chance of spotting the endangered rhinoceros, amidst great birdlife and other wildlife. Head to the Great Maasai Mara National Reserve for four nights and eventually cross over to Northern Serengeti for four nights guaranteeing you of front row seats of the migration drama. DAY 01: Arrival in Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative. If you wish to exchange currency, we recommend doing so at the airport for convenience. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Nairobi where the rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your journey.

DAY 02: Nairobi / Lake Nakuru National Park
In the morning you gather for a short pre-safari briefing before departing on a 3.5-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park which is a reliable rhino destination. Along the way, stop over at the Great Eastern Rift Valley Viewpoint for a few shots and to appreciate its formation millions of years ago. Arrival at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for check-in and lunch. Depart for an afternoon game drive. The famous ornithologist, Roger Tory Peterson, once described this park as the greatest ornithological spectacle in the world. Previously this park was known for its thousands of pink flamingos which have now departed from the lake due to increased waters leading to less alkalinity. Fishing fleets of white pelicans are certainly an awesome sight.

DAY 03: Lake Nakuru National Park
Full day in Lake Nakuru National Park with unlimited game drives. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded in Lake Nakuru National Park. In addition, you can expect to see Rothschild’s Giraffe (which is rare elsewhere), Grant’s and Thomson’s Gazelle, Impala, Common Zebra, African Buffalo, Eland, Waterbuck and several other species of plains game. This is a good place to find Leopard and populations of Rhino, of both African species.

DAY 04: Lake Nakuru National Park / Maasai Mara National Reserve
Following breakfast, you drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve and your accommodations for the next 4 nights at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge. After lunch proceed for an afternoon game drive.

DAY 05/ 06 & 07: Maasai Mara National Reserve
Three (3) full days in Maasai Mara National Reserve with unlimited game drives. This is the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem virtually throbs with life. “The Mara” savannas are famous for their concentration of grazing and browsing animals and their predators – Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Spotted Hyena. Morning and afternoon game drives take you to different areas, depending on where your guides feel you have the best chances of seeing exceptional wildlife. They may suggest you rise early and return for a late breakfast, or you may depart with a picnic lunch and spend the day away from camp. The order of your days may vary, but one thing is guaranteed – you will see lots of mammals, birds, and other wildlife. Though our main target remains the annual wildebeest migration as well as the dramatic river crossings.

DAY 08: Fly to Northern Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip to board your flight to the Northern Serengeti, scheduled to depart at 08:05 and arrive at 12:30. A Kenyan airline will fly you from the Maasai Mara to Migori Airstrip, where you will be met and assisted with border formalities for customs and immigration. The transfer time is approximately 1 hour. From there, a Tanzanian airline will carry you from Tarime Airstrip to Kogatende Airstrip in the Northern Serengeti. On arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your camp for check-in and lunch. This will be your home for the next 4 nights.

DAY 09/ 10 & 11: Northern Serengeti National Park
Three (3) full days in Northern Serengeti National Park with morning and afternoon as per the camp’s schedule. The Northern Serengeti comes alive during the Great Migration, as vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles sweep across its plains in search of fresh grazing. This region is famous for dramatic river crossings, predator encounters, and wide-open landscapes, offering unparalleled wildlife viewing and breathtaking photographic opportunities.

DAY 12: Fly back to Arusha and connect to Nairobi, Kenya
Breakfast at your camp and check-out. Board your flight to Arusha departing at 0925 hrs and arriving at 1145 hrs. Grab a quick lunch within the airport payable directly. Connect to the 1440 hrs Nairobi-bound flight arriving at 1540 hrs, Wilson Airport. On arrival, pick up and transfer for lunch and possible last-minute shopping, all payable directly. Drop off at the Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport Hotel for day room use – Day room use available at 1800 hrs.
